My 2017 Album Ranking

Wew, I haven't posted in quite a while. It's winter break for me, but I don't have much motivation for the blog right now, and I feel like there weren't any albums worth reviewing recently. I will, however, be reviewing the new Camila Cabello album that comes out in 5 days.

Anyways, here's my ranking for all of the albums and EPs that I listened to last year. Combined, there are over 70 projects, all organized into tiers. If you'd like to discuss one of my placements, just leave a comment! I'd really like to see more comments and discussion on this blog.

Hey Violet - From the Outside | Album Review

From the Outside is the debut studio album by American pop-rock band Hey Violet (at least under this moniker), released on June 16, 2017. Hey Violet originally began as Cherri Bomb, a punk rock band, until they eventually morphed into their current situation, with a few members rotated out. Hey Violet originally was a 5 Seconds of Summer side act, but it'd be so wrong to write them off like that. Hey Violet has far exceeded 5SOS in my eyes, from their first EP, Brand New Moves, to their current state. Stylistically, it's hard to pin down exactly what genre this album is. Though classified as "pop rock", the album is rife with EDM and pop influences, as well as a few standout tracks with different styles; there's even one that almost seems to have a Victorian style. Tove Lo - Blue Lips | Album Review

Blue Lips is Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo's third solo album, released on November 17, 2017. It is the second half of a two piece concept album; the first half is last year's Lady Wood , which is one of my favorite albums. It features the final two chapters of the concept album; Light Beam and Pitch Black. It was a hard choice to decide to review this album. This is simply because Tove Lo is definitely my favorite artist ever; Queen of the Clouds is my favorite album. Thus, I figured that I would be too biased. However, after listening to this album many times, it seems like I am in the right mindset to accurately review it. It certainly has flaws and strengths that I can address through a mostly unbiased lens. I'm going to return to my older format of reviewing for this album, track by track, because it's mostly chronological. The Chainsmokers - Memories... Do Not Open | Album Review

Sorry I'm so behind... I lost access to my major reviewing procedure, and I also have a ton of school. I hope to get back on track now! Memories...Do Not Open  is the aptly named debut album by the dynamic EDM duo The Chainsmokers. This album was certainly hyped a LOT... they had 5 top 20 hits in the last year, with Closer, Roses, Don't Let Me Down, Something Just Like This, and Paris , two of which are on this album. I have previously reviewed their EP Collage, which I highly disliked, with the lowest score on my blog of 28/100. Thankfully, this album surpassed my expectations, if just a little bit. The first thing to note about this album, which is certainly extremely strange, is that every single track is co-produced by DJ Swivel. This is rather weird for a supposed EDM group... Emily Warren, a singer/songwriter I rather like (especially with her song Capsize last year) also participates in a lot of the tracks on this album, lending uncredited features, writing credits, ...
